Charity

Marie Curie Cancer Care
Established in 1948 - the same year as the NHS - Marie Curie Cancer Care is now one of the UK´s largest charities.

Employing more than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, this charity provides care to around 25,000 people with cancer every year, along with support for their families.

The charity also cares for people with other life-limiting illnesses. Their services are always free of charge to patients and their families, which means that in 2006-07, we will need to raise more than £100 million.

Chance To Shine
In 2007 Chance To Shine will bring competitive cricket to 1,200 schools and more than 100,000 children through 200 clubs.

We are reversing the decline of competitive sport in the state sector, bringing together our diverse communities, helping children with disabilities to integrate into the mainstream and encouraging them to find talents they never knew they had.

We currently have £10m of the £25m needed from the private sector, and the government has pledged to match every pound donated. We aim to have all the funds committed by 2010. Our achievements in 2006 have shown that Chance To Shine bring make clear and important benefits to the lives of our children.
